Virgil, Eclogues, IX.51–53

July 14th, 2011

omnia fert ætas, animum quoque: sæpe ego longos
cantando puerum memini me condere soles:
nunc oblita mihi tot carmina;

Time takes away everything, even the mind;
I recall how as a boy I sang away the long days:
now I’ve forgotten all my songs.

Virgil, Eclogues, IX.51–53
